I stayed in a hotel just a couple of blocks from the train station, Torino Porta Nuova.  Many of the interesting sights in Turin are walking distance from there.  Here are some of the places I visited:

Ho soggiornato in un hotel solo a un paio di isolati dalla stazione dei treni, Torina Porta Nuova.  Molti dei luoghi di interesse di Torino sono raggiungibili a piedi da lì.  Ecco alcuni dei luoghi a cui sono andata:

First, start off your day with a croissant (filled with apricot jam) and a bicerin, a Turinese drink made with espresso, thick (and I mean thick) hot chocolate, and whipped cream.

Prima di tutto iniziate la giornata con un croissant (ripieno di marmellata di albicocche) e un bicerin, una bevanda torinese a base di caffè, cioccolata calda densa (molto densa) e panna montata.

The Palatine Gate:  This is a 1st-century B.C. Roman city gate.  It is one of the best-preserved Roman gates from this period in the world.  This structure is located next to a city park where people hang out on the grass, sit on benches, or walk their dogs.  In the park are some ancient stone foundations from the same period

Porta Palatina:  Questa è una porta romana del I secolo a.C.  È una delle porte romane di questo periodo meglio conservate al mondo.  Questa struttura si trova vicino a un parco cittadino dove le persone si rilassano sul prato, si siedono sulle panchine o portano a spasso i loro cani.  Nel parco si trovano alcune antiche fondazioni in pietra dalla stessa epoca.

Mole Antonelliana:  A landmark building in Turin, named after its architect, Alessandro Antonelli.  (In Italian, mole is not a sauce, as it is in Spanish, but instead it means a building of monumental proportions.)  It took 26 years to construct it (1863 – 1889).  It is 550 feet tall.  It was originally meant to be a synagogue, but due to conflicts that arose between the architect and the Jewish community of Turin, the city eventually took over the project.  Currently it is the location of the National Museum of Cinema.

Mole Antonelliana:  Edificio storico di Torino, è stato dato il nome del suo architetto, Alessandro Antonelli.  (In italiano, mole non è una salsa, come in spagnolo, ma significa un edificio di dimensioni monumentali.)  Ci sono voluti 26 anni per costruirlo (1863 – 1889).  È alto 550 piedi. In origine doveva essere una sinagoga, ma a causa di conflitti sorti tra l’architetto e la comunità ebraica di Torino, la città alla fine ha rilevato il progetto. Attualmente è sede del Museo Nazionale del Cinema.

Spend a couple of hours at the Egyptian Museum, which has a huge and impressive collection.  (And yes, they will let you in with your American CDC vaccination card instead of the European digital Green Pass!)
